Analysis of Electrograms During Cardiac Arrhythmias

2017 Research Internship Project

Faculty Name

Project Title

Analysis of Electrograms During Cardiac Arrhythmias

Project Description

Cardiac arrhythmia seriously affect the rhythmic functioning of the heart. Depending on the type and its regional origin in the heart, it could lead to life threatening situations. Spatio-temporal dynamic signal characteristics of the electrograms acquired during arrhythmia could provide insights on the mechanism of these rhythmic disorders. The project involves data pre-processing, feature extraction, and pattern classification of retrospective cardiac arrhythmia electrogram databases. This is a collaborative project with Toronto General Hospital.

Student Responsibility

The specific duties and responsibilities include: 1) Perform pre-processing of electrogram data, 2) Implement/apply feature extraction algorithms, 3) Develop a MATLAB or C based automated pattern classification interface, 4) Potentially write a conference paper and/or a technical report summarizing the contributions.

Specific Requirements

Good performance in Signal and Systems and Statistics courses, and MATLAB/C coding skills
