This journal documents my experiences with a Canon 50D, my first DSLR camera, purchased on Oct. 16, 2008. The camera was end-of-lined by Canon in July 2010 and there are rumours of the 60D.

Popular Science article takes a cursory examination of using Leica lenses on M4/3 cameras and concludes that there are no advantages to using them unless you already own one or more Leica lenses. After 2 years photographing flowers with the 50mm/1.4 lens, I have recently switched to the 24mm/1.4L; I have had to adjust my compositions to accomodate the wider field of view.

These are the first photos of flowers with the 24mm. This week, a wide shot; next week a medium shot and the following week, a bit closer shot of these golden coneflowers, which are native to North America.

This is actually a composite of two nearly identical photographs but with different depth-of-fields— the tree (right-hand-side) from one photograph and the subject and background from another (left hand-side). The EXIF in the photograph is correct for one of the two photographs.
