Taking a bow: OCUFA honours outstanding university faculty "'Passionate educator', 'outstanding contributor', and 'a strong commitment to public service and community outreach' are just some of the attributes used to describe the recipients of this year's OCUFA Awards," said Dr. Henry Jacek, President of the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA) today as he announced the names of those chosen to receive the 2002 OCUFA Teaching and Academic Librarianship Awards. "This year's Award winners are a reflection of the enthusiastic talent and effective teaching found in university classrooms and library support services throughout the province's universities" said Dr. Jacek. "Each year OCUFA is proud to honour individual faculty members at Ontario universities who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their respective disciplines," said Dr. Jacek. "The Teaching Awards are presented to professors who inspire and inform through their teaching, course development, and research. They make a difference both to their academic discipline, and to the lives of their students, by offering the best they can professionally. And the recipient of the Academic Librarianship Award is selected based on his or her contribution to scholarly achievement in a particular area of expertise in the academic community."
