Research Interest

He has been working in the evolution of wireless access network to an all IP mobile wireless network. In particular he is focused on Mobility and Quality of Service (QoS) issues. In mobility his work has been in exploring routing-based mobility solution, inter-technology handover, and hand-over framework for micro-mobility. Mobility adds a level complexity in dealing with QoS in the wireless access network. He conducted a simulation-based study to investigate the effect of context transfer on diff-serv flows. He has been working on edge signaling for QoS, and admission control and traffic engineering in the wireless access network. He is also interested in delivering multimedia content to mobile users.

He is the leader of MoWIN group in WINCORE lab . He is collaborating with Dr. Govindan Ravindran on a project on content distribution internetworking.

Experience

Muhammad Jaseemuddin  received B.E. from N.E.D. University of Engg. & Tech., Karachi, Pakistan, in 1989, M. S. from The University of Texas at Arlington in 1991, and Ph.D. from The University of Toronto in 1997. He worked as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Network Architecture Lab at The University of Toronto on Network Management using Virtual Network. He worked in Advanced IP group and Wireless Technology Lab (WTL) at Nortel Networks from 1998 to 2001. He worked on Wireless Service Delivery Platform and UMTS VHE prototype for mobile service delivery. He contributed to the development and implementation of Open IP suite of IP protocols. In WTL, he worked on QoS, Routing and Handover issues in mobile wireless IP access network. He has been Associate Professor at Ryerson University since 2002. His research interests include IP mobility, IP traffic engineering, routing protocols, multi-hop mobile wireless networks (ad hoc, mesh, and sensor), vertical system integration, MAC and routing for multi-hop wireless networks with directional antenna.
