Autoloader is a utility for moving tapes in a tape library. It is written to allow Linux users to change the tapes on SCSI Tape libraries and autoloaders. It is a simple command line interface, designed to be embedded within backup scripts. It moves tapes from a source slot to destination tape drive, or from a source tape drive to a destrination slot. It does not support moving from one tape to another, or from one slot to another, simply because not all autoloaders support these operations.

It will detect the number of slots, and tape drives within the library, and catch any illegal moves.

The utility was written based on Exabyte, and ADIC, autoloader OEM manuels, but also works for other manufacturers.
