Communications and Signal Processing Applications Laboratory focuses on research related to wavelets, filterbanks and time-frequency/ time-scale analysis, multimedia signal processing, bioengineering and bioinfomatics.

Computer Networks Laboratory conducts research in the areas of traffic control and admission control in resilient packet ring technology, proportional differentiation, IP routing, QoS, traffic engineering, overlay and content distribution.

Computer Vision and Image Processing Laboratory

Computer Vision and Image Processing Laboratory designs and develops algorithms in non-linear, medical and adaptive image processing, texture segmentation, character recognition, image and video coding and 3D computer vision.

Dependable Autonomic Systems Laboratory focuses dependability and performance evaluation of distributed systems, software performance engineering, mathematical modeling using fault-trees, Markov models, Petri nets and layered queueing theory.

Embedded and Reconfigurable Systems Laboratory

Embedded and Reconfigurable Systems Laboratory conducts research in adaptive reconfigurable platforms, automated high-level architectural synthesis of embedded systems, self-testing and self-restoration.

Fiber Optic Communications and Sensing Laboratory pursues active research in the area of fiber optic devices for high-speed broadband fiber communication, fiber optic sensing, fiber lasers and laser material processing.

Laboratory for Electric Drive Applications and Research conducts research in the areas of high-power converters and AC drives, renewable energy systems, flexible AC transmission systems, advanced controls and industrial applications.

Lightning Measurement Facility

Lightning Measurement Facility researches lightning-generated electric and magnetic fields by measuring lightning strikes on the CN tower using active antennae, and flash trajectories using a high frame-rate camera.

Microsystems Research Laboratory

Microsystems Research Laboratory researches and provides advanced training on microsystems, embedded systems, MEMS, image sensors & systems, hardware-software co-design, and ASIC systems.

The laboratory is co-directed by Dr. Gul Khan and Dr. Fei Yuan.

Multimedia and Distributed Computing Laboratory focuses on distributed computing that provides infrastructure for the processing, indexing and retrieval of multimedia data and for the testing, analysis and design of fault-tolerant computing.

Ryerson Comunications Laboratory conducts active research in the areas of optical and wireless communications. Mainly signal processing for wireless communications, radio over fiber systems, wireless sensor networks and RFID, wireless for aerospace systems and communications for underground environments.

Ryerson Multimedia Research Laboratory is engaged in researching basic and applied aspects of multimedia processing. The applied research focuses on media indexing, coding, transmission and retrieval, and human computer interaction.

Signal Analysis Research Laboratory has two main areas of focus: medical image and signal analysis research, which is undertaken by the miSAR team, and multimedia information and signal analysis research, which is undertaken by the MISAR team. The laboratory is directed by Dr. Sri Krishnan.

Signal and Information Processing Laboratory conducts research in the broad areas of statistical signal processing and information theory, with focus on detection theory, learning from data, data denoising and compression for various applications such as hyperspectral imaging. The laboratory director is Dr. Soosan Beheshti.

Sensorimotor Processing and Integration for Rehabilitation, Adaptation and Learning Lab

Sensorimotor Processing and Integration for Rehabilitation, Adaptation and Learning Lab investigates VR tools to assist the elderly and impaired, studies the human balance control system and models human adaptation & learning. The lab includes the Biomedical Robotics and Rehabilitation Group (BioRRG).

The laboratory is co-directed by Dr. K. McConville and Dr. James A. Smith.

The Wireless Communications and Networking Laboratory

The Wireless Communications and Networking Laboratory is comprised of the WAN & MoWIN labs exploring wireless communications at the four layers: physical, data-link, network, and transport. The laboratory is co-directed by Dr. Alagan Anpalagan, Dr. Muhammad Jaseemuddin and Dr. Lian Zhao.
