With the increasing of EV on the roads, the charging facilities limits the growing of EVs. The central charging station is not convenient when the charging time is much longer than gas station. So the charging system in the garage is an alternative solution to the growing EV markets
The objective is to design a parking management system to accommodate the requirement of EV charging in the garage
The specifications of the system include:
1) A cloud based management system, which can control the charging power supply for EV
2) A local energy management sub-system to limit the charging current
3) The local meters attached to the supply port, which can be connected to the EV
4) Phone APP to pay and monitor the charging progress
The team should design a charging port with meters. The port can be controlled by the cloud. The software on the cloud can communicate with the cloud to pay the fee and monitor the progress.
The local system will monitor all the charging ports in the garage and power supplies for the parking station. The energy will be limited if total power exceed the limits of the transformer station
The group should design the hardware and software of the system and test the functionality of the system
Student A will design the charging port hardware and test the functionality. The hardware should include meters, on/off control and communication.
Student B will design the local energy management system including the monitoring of the transformer which supply the parking station
Student C will design the software on the charging port to enable the communication between the port and the cloud. Student C also response for the software on the cloud
Student D will design a phone APP to communicate with cloud to pay the fee and monitor the progress
