Project Title

Energy efficiency maximization for next generation wireless communication systems

Project Description

As mobile networks continuously densify, the huge energy consumption has brought a heavy burden to operators, which may become the bottleneck of future network development. Therefore, green communications have drawn increasing research interests during recent years. Specifically, Energy Efficiency (EE), i.e., the amount of transmitted data with per unit energy consumption, has been considered as one of the key performance metrics in the upcoming 5G era and beyond. In this summer study period, a few fundamental optimization techniques will be studied to obtain power allocation strategies to maximize system energy efficiency.

Student Responsibility

1. Read, understand, and discuss a few key reference papers; 2. Programming the algorithms presented in the key reference papers to gain comprehensive understanding and more insights; 3. Brainstorm and try to generate new idea.

Specific Requirements

1) Interested in doing research and good math background; 2) Matlab programming.
