Project Title

Dual Active Bridge (DAB) Converter for Bidirectional dc-dc Power Conversion

Project Description

This project aims to design, simulate, and construct a dual active bridge (DAB) dc-dc converter for bidirectional power processing. With a rating of 2 kW, the converter will interface a 450-V battery bank with a 12-V battery, for the purpose of power exchange between the two.

Student Responsibility

The intern will either be directly involved or assist with prototype construction (PCB, mechanical, etc.), micro-controller/DSP programming, and lab tests. The intern will learn about the circuit configuration, theory of operation, and control of the DAB converter in general, and in this context in particular.

Specific Requirements

Adequate experience with embedded programming (preferably, TI DSP platforms such as Piccolo, or STM32 Arm Cortex platforms), PCB CAD software, and hardware prototyping is essential. A background or experience with power electronics or motor control projects (H-bridges, etc.) will be a plus.
