Project Title

Semantic understanding layer for Augmented Reality

Project Description

This project aims at developing a semantic understanding layer for mobile Augmented Reality. While AR has become mainstream, the understanding of the scene is still primitive (pixels and surfaces). Utilizing machine learning, this project will enable adding higher-level semantic understanding to AR.

Student Responsibility

* Help graduate researchers in plugin development to enable the semantic layer in Unity3D. Students will work with ML libraries such as tensorflow-lite, and the Unity3D game engine. Some cloud development could also be required. * Testing and validation of research results.

Specific Requirements

* Very good programming skills, must have A- or above in all programming and software courses. * Familiarity with Unity3D/C# programming is an asset, but not required.

Application Procedure

To apply for this project you will need to login to the departmental web portal and select Research Internship from the sidebar menu.
