Raymond Phan wins Ryerson Gold Medal Award

Oct 18, 2013

The following citation was included in his nomination package.

Raymond is an exceptional and outstanding graduate student that has excelled both ademically and professionally while at Ryerson. His academic and research aptitude is second-to-none; a fact that the National Science and Engineering Research Council agreed upon and awarded him with one of Canada's most prestigious awards: the Vanier Scholarship. Beyond his academics, he is also a well accomplished lecturer since he has taught and co-taught and TA-ed many engineering undergraduate courses and many mathematics undergraduate courses. Moreoever, Raymond has also dedicated much effort and time to volunteer work.

Specifically he has been very active with the local chapter of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers: which happens to be the premiere professional society for electrical and computer engineering while also being extremely active in graduate and undergraduate level volunteer work at Ryerson.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is no student more deserving of this award than Raymond and no better way to reward his hard work and love of Ryerson than to award him with such an honor.
